Phil’s commitment to the Republican Party spans decades, beginning in his early childhood and continuing with active engagement throughout his life. He recalls walking precincts in the 1970s as a young man on behalf of prominent Republican leaders such as Congressman Bill Armstrong, Ken Kramer, Joel Hefley, and Senator Ray Powers — a longtime family friend who ranched cattle with Phil’s grandfather.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Phil was deeply involved with the El Paso County Young Republicans, where he helped energize and mobilize the next generation of conservative leaders. Over the years, Phil has worked on a wide range of Republican campaigns at all levels, including:
· Congressional and Gubernatorial races
· County Sheriff, Commissioner, Coroner, and Mayoral campaigns
· City Council and State Legislative elections
· School Board member races
Phil has served in numerous grassroots leadership roles including Caucus Leader, Precinct Leader, Division Leader, State Delegate, County Delegate, 5th Congressional Delegate, and 4th Judicial Delegate. He has also served as an alternate in many of these roles, demonstrating his flexibility and deep commitment to the party’s success.
In addition to his campaign work, Phil has volunteered extensively with the El Paso County Republican Party and was even encouraged to run for El Paso County Chair — a testament to the respect he has earned among fellow conservatives.
Today, Phil and his wife Kelley are proud residents of Park County, where they are active members of the Park County Republican Party and continue their strong tradition of civic involvement and conservative advocacy.
